Bridge the gap between basic skills courses and current office practices by attaining the knowledge necessary for workplace success. Designed for those currently on a career track leading toward administrative office management, this course teaches current principles and concepts including information management, technology, communications office systems and administrative procedures.

Prerequisite

High school diploma or equivalent, completion of our Basic Skills Assessment and submission of the Program Application. Working knowledge of computers and access to a computer and the Internet are required.

The Basic Skills Assessment and Program Application are located online. The instructions are here. You will be directed to the program application after completing the skills assessment.

Class consists of four parts:
  1. Introduces basic management practices, opportunities and challenges in administrative office management
  2. Focuses on the managing of human resources in an office
  3. Stresses leadership, decision-making and motivation skills in the business environment
  4. Covers managing essential administrative services that include office design, space and health and safety issues

Additionally, internet research projects, case studies and chapter quizzes will help you develop skills in strategic planning, organization and time management.

Certification Prep

This course can help prepare you for the International Association of Administrative Professionals’ (IAAP) Certification in Organizational Management.
