Owl Show You Chemistry Kids Camp

Kennesaw State University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in partnership with Bagwell College of Education is proud to host the Owl Show You Chemistry kids camp. This fun-filled program is sure to keep your child(ren) engaged and excited about chemistry while you are at the ChemEd 2015 conference.

The Owl Show You Chemistry kids camp is composed of six half-day sessions that will run Wednesday, July 29-July 31 from Friday. The morning session will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the afternoon session will begin at 1:00 p.m. and last to 4:00 p.m. each day. Lunch will be provided to those children who have signed up for both morning and afternoon sessions on the same day. It is designed for children between the ages of 5-13 of families attending the conference. The six sessions are geared around chemistry experiments such as tie-dye T-shirts, chemistry themed jewelry, and much more!

These activities will take place at the ATOMS (Advancing the Teaching of Mathematics and Science) Center on campus. This transformed house offers a great space for children to play freely and safely away from the bustle of campus life. Dr. Kelly-Jackson, an Associate Professor of Science Education in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood, will oversee the program. Volunteers from the KSU education programs and local high school students in the National Honor Society will also help with the camp activities.

Each child’s enrollment fee is a one-time $30 plus an additional fee for each session. These fees cover the cost of the program’s materials, camp T-shirt, and water bottle. Children can also attend ChemEd 2015 social events once registered. This registration fee can be paid on the online conference registration page. Contact Dr. Kelly-Jackson at ckellyja@kennesaw.edu for further information.
