Ceremony honors nearly 150 graduates

GraduationWe were honored to recognize nearly 150 students at our semiannual graduation ceremony Dec. 16. The event saw nearly 400 people in attendance to celebrate the students’ achievements of successfully completing a certificate program at the College within the past year. Students represented approximately 25 different programs, from Project Management to Human Resources.

Graduation“This is one of our favorite events because it allows us to honor and recognize all the hard work and sacrifice of our students,” said Barbara Calhoun, dean of the College.  “Our students never cease to amaze and humble us by their personal success stories. Their achievements will certainly open new doors of opportunity.”

Tammie Gruhn, former Paralegal Certificate graduate and now instructor, gave the keynote address. She shared her personal journey of perseverance by rebounding from several layoffs and reinventing herself with a career change into the legal field. She closed by encouraging the graduates in saying, “What will you do with your certificate?”

Graduation Medical AssistingOne of our newest programs, Medical Assisting, featured its first graduating class. The professional healthcare certificate program saw 14 students proudly walk across the stage after completing the 14-month, 549-hour course.

Next up, we’ll be hosting a free Career Training Expo on Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. at KSU Center. Don’t forget to register in advance online or by calling 470-578-6765. We hope to see you there!
